Folding sheets

Folding sheets

By Coaching, Productivity

There is a scene is the film ‘American History X’ where Ed Norton’s Character is angrily folding sheets in the prison laundry. Guy Torry’s character points out that he’s folding ‘like he’s trying to get to the end of them.’ And that no matter how fast he folds they are just going to keep brining them in.

While not quite the point of the scene, (the purpose was to start breaking down Ed’s characters racist barriers) the lesson that ‘the sheets will never end’ is still a valuable one.

Many of us work jobs where there is literally no end to the tasks that can be ticked off, the research that can be done, the refinements that can be made. We can work 24/7 and still get no where near ‘the end.’ Whatever that means.

So we must set our own limits. We need to decide when to stop folding sheets.
